Vocal counterpoint

Harmonic Structure

Vocal counterpoint is the arrangement of two or more independent, simultaneous melodic vocal lines that interact harmonically while maintaining distinct melodic contours and rhythms. The parts are commonly tracked separately and balanced across the stereo field using panning, dynamic leveling, or tonal processing to preserve clarity and spatial width. This structure builds complex arrangement climaxes without muddling individual vocal phrases.
